A really beautiful blue & white porcelain transferware vase.  Double handled with castle and country scenes.  In really good condition with minor crazing to base - no chips or cracks. Unsure if vintage or antique. Height 19cm, diameter including handles 15cm.
 
For those, like me, that have never heard of the word "transferware",  it is a term used to describe a method of decorating pottery.  A pattern is applied to the pottery piece by the transferring of a design from an inked, hand engraved, copper plate to a wet tissue paper.  This is then applied onto the body of pottery it decorates.  Voila - transferred!!!  Developed in England in the mid 1750's.
